In her email, Sally mentioned that a monochromatic photo can tell a story that a full color photo can't always capture. As I was taking and editing pictures, I began to see this for myself.
There is a tree along the highway that I notice from time to time. I've always wanted to build a story around it. While I wasn't able to get a photo of that tree (it's a bit too far to drive just for a photo), I found a different one.
Along the way, I saw an old shed that could tell a few stories.
Finally, I played with one photo and used three different filters:
black and white
sepia
and black and yellow
The last one is my favorite.
Sally, thank you for another wonderful week. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the motivation to get out and take pictures. I am enjoying the results immensely.

There's something about an old tree standing guard on top of a hill. The old shed is perfect in B&W. And the flowers look like stars in the nighttime sky.

ReplyDeletehmm, I'm not sur which I like best, they are all lovely. The tree picture totally reminds me of the Shawshank Redemption, my favourite part of the movie. I have many favourite trees around my city. I totally agree, I love having the challenge to get me taking pictures and practising by taking more and more. And it's fun to share of course

ReplyDeleteThat last picture is gorgeous... I stuck to black and white ... should have been more adventurous and played with monocromatic colours! I have a black and white setting on my camera... may even use it occasionally now!
